A new year is upon us and many of us wax nostalgic about things that happened in the previous year. We here at HOPE have been discussing our clients and what has happened to them over the past year. Thanks to the City of Salisbury’s Housing First Program we have seen many housed. Unfortunately, some of them found that they would rather continue to live outside than in what is considered “normal” housing. The pressure of maintaining a place is difficult for someone who is used to living inside; it’s a bigger challenge for someone who has lived in a tent or from couch to couch. We have lost a few to illness and some have moved on to new areas. What makes us feel like a success is when a client has taken the tools we helped to provide and found their independence with them. Nothing warms our heart more than someone who walks in and says thank you, I have a job, a place to live, and I am grateful for all that HOPE has done for me. It happens occasionally and we thank God for His presence in our office, our lives, and in our client’s life.

We wish you and your families a Happy and blessed New Year.
