Stories from the Basement December 2020

Donna Clark, Director

As 2020 comes to a close I think many people are ready for the New Year. We at HOPE have seen a lot of changes and had to say good bye to friends and family. The pandemic and political atmosphere have created a sense of nervousness and for some depression but, we are feeling a sense of hope and anticipation as the Christmas season arrives in our lives. The vaccine is coming and I believe the country will start to pull together in the future.

In November we began our fund raising campaign and the community response has been just unbelievable. We are grateful for everyone who has donated to our efforts; allowing us to resume dental assistance and medication assistance. Yesterday a gentleman came to us for some dental extractions he desperately needed and we were able to say yes to his request. After I left the office I received a call from the daughter of an elderly lady who could not pay for her insulin. The cost was slightly higher than we like to pay out but God touched my heart and I said “yes” to assisting her. Your support of our agency allowed us to help her with an essential medication and improve the quality of her life. Thank you!

We here at HOPE wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
