Here at H.O.P.E., Inc. we have many people pass through our doors. Some with needs, others bringing their talents and gifts to serve. Two very special men have become part of our agency and they are a wonderful addition. Several months ago we had an incident with a mentally ill person spiraling out of control and the Salisbury City Police were called. Since then we have a regular visit from the police force almost every day we are open. “Bull” and John DiMare come and provide a presence helping to keep those clients who would otherwise display aggressive behavior to stay under control. They do much more than police work. Their sense of humor and wise insight to issues of those living on the street and at risk of homelessness have brought a sense of calm to the office. They treat everyone with respect and dignity, going out of their way to help those in need and helping the other clients here feel safe. Bull was a recent recipient of an award from the local organization “We Heart Salisbury” for his work as the downtown “Coolest Cop”. H.O.P.E., Inc. also received an award from the same organization for “Outstanding Non-Profit Agency”. We share the same commitment in serving the homeless in the downtown area of Salisbury MD. It takes everyone to help those in need and I think of the passage in 1 Corinthians 12: 12-31. As Christians we need to care for and love all of God’s creations.
